Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
